Research has shown that around half of all workers take at least 1 coffee break a day and some 32% take two or more. Gaggia coffee machines are increasingly in popularity throughout the working world with many employees wanting to get the tastes they enjoy on the high-streets available in their own offices. Gaggia coffee makers, created by Achilles Gaggia in the late 1930’s, are ideal for making the perfect espresso or cappuccino.

Gaggia – coffee Break Comedy

The term ‘coffee break’ is, in itself, a bit of a misnomer as many people don’t actually drink any coffee at all during these breaks. A survey by Career Builder aimed to establish some of the stranger things people do during their coffee breaks and came to some staggering conclusions. Just a few of the things people did (except drink coffee) during these ‘coffee breaks’ included:

  • Practiced Step Aerobics
  • Walked A Turkey Around The Office
  • Burping Contest
  • Proposed Marriage
  • Shrink Wrapped A Co-Worker’s Car

Whilst coffee break antics may not always revolve around the drinking of coffee, for those who do use it to consume a tasty beverage, the coffee maker of choice is invariably a Gaggia coffee machine.

Gaggia – Origins of the Coffee Break

Coffee breaks, if the stories are to be believed, aren’t a particularly recent phenomena. Some suggest that they originated when Norwegian immigrants settled in Wisconsin in the late 1800’s. It is said that whilst Norwegian man built wagons, tobacco warehouse owners didn’t have enough workers to bring in tobacco, so, they turned to the Norwegian wives. They agreed so long as they could have a break in the morning and the afternoon to tend to their chores and, it is said, drink coffee. Admittedly, they wouldn’t have been treated to the perfect cup of espresso that emanates from a Gaggia coffee machine but it was a coffee break nonetheless.
